All Parts Matter
A Narrative Expressionist oil painting by Percy Kleinops
Expressionism was a movement that emerged in 1905 in Germany. The key difference between impressionism and expressionism is that while impressionism tried to capture the impression or the momentary effect of a scene, expressionism presented exaggerated and distorted emotions through art.
Moreover, impressionist artists paid special attention to the depiction of the impression of light and its changing effect whereas expressionist artists paid special attention to the depiction of emotion the subject arouses in the artist. (pediaa.com)
Narrative Art, in my case, reveals my thoughts, emotions, observations and sometimes dreams brought to life on canvas with symbolism accompanied by my narrative in the form of poetry, prose or both.
My Narrative Expressionist Art feels very comfortable to me because I use my passion for creating art and poetry to produce my work.
My Narrative for All Parts Matter
To discover our unique selves and find our purpose in life, we need to have all our parts in the right place. When parts are missing, we are off balance and in danger of collapsing, represented by the figure on the right. Whereas, the figure on the left has all its parts.
I use the triangle because it is the strongest geometric shape. While it is stable when on its base, it is unstable when not. However, a triangle in any fashion always represents strength and ancient wisdom.
Spiritually, the triangle is associated with a balanced belief, one in body and soul. The appearance of a triangle in dreams means there is connectivity to the spiritual. It is a symbol of being connected to harmony both spiritual and physical well-being.
The bottle is symbolic of the womb. Dreams of a bottle with milk means richness and health. An empty bottle means the opposite.
Parts scattered around are the missing parts, however all parts missing are not seen. Some have been taken away by others.
How do these parts get detached? Some are taken, some are given, some we don’t recognize as part of us and some are lost because we didn’t use them.
Examples of parts taken from us are the freedom to express ourselves as we wish, freedom to choose where we want to live, freedom to love who we love, and freedom to achieve. These can be taken by society, by membership to a group or association, by parents, spouses, other family members and by fear. We can even remove a part ourselves by failing to recognize or acknowledge that part is in us.
Learning who we really are is not possible without all our parts. It becomes impossible to find our true purpose in life. Constrained without all our parts, we do not know what tools, talents, strengths or weaknesses we have to work with. Having all your parts does matter!
